Milford Duathlon - Sat 28th July

Sat 28th July saw 5 members of Ilkeston running club out on their bikes. Simon Davis was in the Ilkeston area midway through his Lands End to John O'Groats challenge, raising sponsorship for Asthma UK. Steve Chamberlain, Rowan Langton, Rob Sharratt and Carol Sharratt were only cycling approximately 9.5 miles in comparison as part of David Denton's summer duathlon at Milford, Derbyshire. Steve had a good first run over the 2.4 mile course posting a time of 15.22 as 6th competitor back. Rob was the next back for the club in a time of 17.12, followed by Rowan in 19.12 and Carol in 20.55. Steve then showed his superiority on the bike, proving what a good all round athlete he is, by finishing the bike section in 28.37. Rowan was his closest rival in the club finishing in 34.47. Carol then took a temporary advantage over Rob finishing the bike ride in 36.55 compared to his 40.42 but then threw away any advantage in the transition whilst changing her shoes. Steve completed the final run in 16.48, finishing in 5th place with an overall time of 60.47. Rowan's final run was 20.33 giving her an overall time of 74.33 and a finishing place of 17. Rob finished his second run in 18.48 which gave him 19th place and a total 76.42. Carol finished in 80.38 after a final run of 22.48. She finished 22nd out of the 26 competitors. The event was won in 57.21 by Andrew Leck
